TJ Slattery, MST Therapist
TJ is an experienced MST Therapist with Extern’s Bail Supervision Scheme, a position he has held since January 2023. His practice is guided by a deep understanding of systemic therapeutic approaches, risk management, and strengths‑based family work.
TJ brings over a decade of experience across youth justice, disability services, and residential childcare. Prior to joining the Bail Supervision Scheme, he spent several years as a Youth Justice Worker with Extern’s Janus Justice Programme, where he supported high‑risk young people through structured interventions, multi‑agency collaboration, and community‑based engagement. His professional background also includes work within adult disability services, as well as five years in children’s residential care, where he developed strong skills in crisis management, trauma‑informed practice, and relationship‑based therapeutic support.
Academically, TJ holds a degree in Social Science, a Higher Diploma in Guidance and Counselling, and a Certificate in Play Therapy. This combination of qualifications equips him with a broad and adaptable skill set, enabling him to integrate therapeutic modalities, educational guidance principles, and creative child‑centred approaches into his work with young people and their families.
